What to Do When a Single Nuss Bar Fractures Through the Front of the Sternum

This video presents a case of an older patient with severe pectus who had only one Nuss bar. Over four months, the bar fractured the thin sternum and migrated over it, exiting the thoracic cavity. This video demonstrates this complication, the removal of the bar, and how the surgeons subsequently performed the Ravitch procedure, and using two Stryker Variax plates to elevate the sternum and stabilize the fracture.
