In this session, we’ll dive into real-world clinical cases to explore the growing opportunity of discharging patients on postoperative day 1 or 2 following minimally invasive cardiac surgery. We’ll take a closer look at common barriers, challenge existing routines, and ask critical questions like: “Why is my patient still in the hospital?” and “Are we overlooking the potential of Day 0 – the forgotten day?”
Why join? With hospitals in economic crises and cardiac surgery challenged, moving towards MICS, now is the time to disrupt the status quo in postoperative care. Focus on productivity and excellence in the care of patients who may require a chest drain.

Speakers: Marc Ruel (University of Ottawa, Canada), Gianluca Torregrossa (Lankenau Heart Institute, Philadelphia, USA) and Torsten Doenst (University Hospital Jena, Germany)
