Background

Ahmed Wahba is a final-year medical student and a research assistant in cardiac surgery with a strong dedication to advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery, particularly congenital heart surgery. His academic and professional journey has been shaped by an early commitment to research, clinical excellence, and global collaboration.

He is an active member of multiple national and international societies, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the ACC Journals Club, the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS), the African Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (AHACTS), and the Egyptian Cardiothoracic Surgery Society (ECTSS). He also maintains involvement with educational and research-focused medical organizations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Ahmed is the founder of the Network of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Advancement (NOVA), a platform aimed at supporting trainees, promoting research productivity, and enhancing academic collaboration in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery across different regions.

In addition, he serves as a Section Editor at the Federation of African Medical Students Associations (FAMSA) East Magazine, where he contributes to shaping scientific content and highlighting emerging perspectives in cardiovascular medicine.

His research interests span congenital cardiac surgery, perioperative outcomes, cardiopulmonary bypass physiology, and health-system disparities in cardiac care.
