Claudiu Eduard Nistor, MD, MPH, PhD: Currently, he is Consultant Thoracic Surgery ”Carol Davila” Central Military Emergency University Hospital, Bucharest and Associate Professor of Faculty of Medicine, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Romania. He accomplished his medical degrees (MD, Master of Public Health, PhD) at “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Romania. He is also specialized and he has Competence of thoracoscopic surgery, Pulmonary Transplant Competence, Competence of Chest Traumatology and Bronchoscopy Competence.
His scientific research is focused in the fields of thoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery and lung transplantation.
Presently, he is founding member of Romanian Thoracic Surgery Society, founding member of THORAX Foundation, member of the Territorial Surgery Commission for sending patients abroad for surgical intervention; member of the Territorial Transplantation Commission; member of ERS (European Respiratory Society); and member of SRP (Romanian Society of Pneumology).
He was involved as participation in surgical techniques for the first time in Romania for the approach through cervicosternotomy in "Y" for mediastinal goitre (1995); Reconstruction of the superior cava vein with prosthesis in the bronchopulmonary cancer (1999); pleuropericardial window made by thoracoscopic minimal invasive surgery (1999); anterior approach in Pancoast Tobias (2001); surgery on the single lungs with pleuropulmonary decoction (2001); Broncho-anastomosis resection of the intermediaries bronchi (2002); and Recovery and reconstruction of carine (2004).
He has participated in more than 110 scientific events and national and international training courses. More than 90 articles and scientific papers published or communicated in the country and abroad, 7 books and chapters in specialized books in national and international Publishing Houses, as author, coordinator or co-author. He was principal investigator and co-investigator in 9 national projects and in 1 international project (the esophageal cancer study and professional and non-professional risk factors - according to the collaboration agreement between the Public Health Institute (representing the International Agency for Cancer Studies - IARC in Lyon, France) and the Thorax Foundation).
