Background

Professor Ori Wald is Head of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Unit at Hadassah Medical Center (HMC). He is also the director of the Thoracic Oncology Research Laboratory at HMC. Professor Wald holds an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel. He completed his residency in cardiac and thoracic surgery at HMC and specialized in thoracic surgical oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, USA.

 

Professor Wald performs state-of-the-art surgeries, using minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, to optimize surgical outcomes and patient recovery. He is committed to providing the highest level of care to all his patients. Every case is individually discussed with a multidisciplinary team of expert physicians to assure comprehensive consideration of all treatment options, consequently ensuring each patient is provided with the best personalized care.

 

Professor Wald also conducts cutting edge research which is dedicated to developing novel immune therapies for thoracic cancers, particularly using orthotopic and syngeneic models of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma. Professor Wald has published over 55 academic papers and has been awarded several prizes and research grants, including  prestigious grants from both the Israeli Science Foundation and the Israel Cancer Association.
