ESTS Textbook of Thoracic Surgery

The European Society of Thoracic Surgeons has invited many of the leading experts in general thoracic surgery to prepare detailed descriptions of the contemporary state of the art in this field, all included in the ESTS Textbook of Thoracic Surgery.

Over 340 authors, representing 29 countries from all 6 continents, have prepared 109 chapters presenting all aspects of general thoracic surgery, including: esophageal surgery, transplantation, and trauma (see the content). Each chapter has been authored by specialists of international renown.

The textbook includes an atlas of surgical techniques, presenting 104 of the most commonly performed procedures in general thoracic surgery. The multimedia version on DVD contains all the text and illustrations included in the print version, in addition to over 120 videos showing details of diagnostic procedures and surgical techniques, additional illustrations, and vocabulary and searching tools. Once installed on a user’s computer, the multimedia version of the ESTS Textbook is constantly updated. Whenever important evidence or guidelines are published, such material will be incorporated into the textbook and the updates will be available for users.

The illustrations and videos are available free of charge for all registered users of the textbook. Users can download and use the visual materials for teaching, lectures, and presentations.

The ESTS Textbook of Thoracic Surgery comes in two hardcover volumes, with a DVD version included with each volume. Volume I was published in June 2014; release of volume II is planned for December 2014.
