Highlights From the STS 53rd Annual Meeting

Ralph W. Muller

STS 53rd Annual Meeting attendees enjoyed exciting talks this morning by two distinguished lecturers, as well as the 2017 awards presentation. The Patient Safety Symposium tackled an important topic—preventing physician burnout in cardiothoracic surgery.

Whether you are with the STS in Houston or couldn’t make this year’s Annual Meeting, you can peruse the Tuesday/Wednesday edition of the STS Meeting Bulletin, now available online. The Society’s official meeting newspaper covers highlights such as:

  • Recap of STS President Joseph E. Bavaria’s Presidential Address, given yesterday morning;
  • Previews of today’s Thomas B. Ferguson and C. Walton Lillehei Lectures, featuring University of Pennsylvania Health System CEO Ralph W. Muller, MA, and The Naked Surgeon author Samer Nashef, MD;
  • A feature on the Society’s 2017-2018 President Richard L. Prager, MD, who was elected last night by the STS membership;
  • The recipient of the Society’s Distinguished Service Award for 2017;
  • And much more!
