As TAVR is used in progressively lower-risk cohorts, management of device failure will become increasingly important. This study reports the largest series of patients receiving a surgical reoperation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) using the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Database.

Reoperation After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: An Analysis of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Database
June 11, 2020
November 22, 2019
Puzzling subgroup from the GALILEO trial, which appears in the same issue of the periodical as an article that discredits the use of rivaroxaban as thromboprevention strategy :
Measuring Chordae Tension During Transapical Neochordae Implantation: Toward Understanding Objective Consequences of Mitral Valve Repair
October 8, 2019
An interesting pilot experiment on attempting to quantify the optimum disposition of neochordae in transapical intervention for severe mitral regurgitation.
Transcatheter or Surgical Repair for Degenerative Mitral Regurgitation in Elderly Patients: A Propensity-Weighted Analysis
October 6, 2019
The authors address appropriate use of the transcatheter clip to treat degenerative mitral regurgitation in elderly low to moderate risk patients.
August 25, 2019
In an era of increased use of MitraClip, surgical mitral valve repair still offers a durable solution. Tirone David and colleages report 1,234 consecutive patients who had mitral valve repair with 20 year follow-up.
Transcatheter Valve-in-Valve Versus Surgical Replacement of Failing Stented Aortic Biological Valves
July 20, 2019
This retrospective study by Sedeek et al aimed to compare the outcomes of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) valve-in-valve (n=90) versus surgical replacement (SAVR) (n=260) of failing stented aortic biological valves in a cohort of 350 patients .
Feasibility of Repeat TAVR After SAPIEN 3 TAVR: A Novel Classification Scheme and Pilot Angiographic Study
July 9, 2019
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is expanding to younger patients, but the feasibility of TAVR in failing transcatheter aortic valves (TAV) remains unknown.
July 6, 2019
The Washington University group compared operator radiation exposure during transcatheter valve implantation when performed via a transfemoral versus an alternative access approach, when performed in a catheterization lab versus a hybrid operating room (OR), and investigated the potential benefit of disposable shielding.
July 1, 2019
This video demonstrates working as a team to improve the outcomes of people who arrest or have an acute emergency in the catheterization laboratory.
June 18, 2019
This large review of over 100,000 patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement demonstrated a stroke rate of 2.3% within 30 days of the procedure, and no decrease in the rate between 2011 and 2015.
