In this manuscript the authors describe their finding after a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the safety and efficacy of the Mitraclip procedure for patients with functional mitral regurgitation (FMR). Overall, 875 patients were included. Every patient underwent a follow-up of at least 6 months.

This is a retrospective study comparing outcomes in 25 octogenarian patients undergoing percutaneous mitral valve intervention with the Mitraclip device and 35 octogenarian patients undergoing surgical mitral valve repair or replacement for isolated mitral regurgitation.

Interesting images of one of the very few reports on transeptal mitral valve implantation, in this case with a SAPIEN XT valve. The valve was implanted in a 72-year old female patient with previous aortic valve replacement and tricuspid valve annuloplasty. She had symptomatic mitral stenosis with severe calcification of the mitral annulus.

An interesting case that raises the question of the need for anticoagulation in patients treated with a transcatheter valve in valve in mitral position
