Endovascular

December 1, 2020
The authors depict a method of Type I aortic dissection repair with the use of direct aortic cannulation, moderate hypothermia with antegrade and retrograde cerebral perfusion, frozen elephant trunk, and Cabrol coronary anastomosis to facilitate root replacement.
November 28, 2020
A relatively recent, open-access, brief viewpoint on the utility of screening for thoracic aortic pathologies.
November 23, 2020
This study evaluated preoperative cerebrospinal fluid drainage (CSFD) In patients undergoing isolated descending TEVAR with or without arch involvement (+/− arch TEVAR).
November 12, 2020
The initial experience from Ann Arbor throughout a quarter of a century in malperfusion syndrome from type B (De Bakey III) aortic dissection is presented in this paper, juxtaposing early fenestrating and adjunct endovascular techniques to conservative treatments.

Within the limitations of a meta-analysis, a useful work advancing that PCI may have a hitherto masked or hidden mortality
October 18, 2020
In this article in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Drs Norton et al performed a single institution retrospective analysis of outcomes of 182 patients with acute type B aortic dissection who underwent fenestration/stenting for suspected malperfusion.
October 18, 2020
In this article, Drs Malaisrie and Mehta discuss updates on the indications for TEVAR in type B aortic dissection with comparison of the guidelines from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Society of Vascular Surgery, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and the Japanese Circulation Society.

An open-access large metanalysis on the utility and risks of antiplatelets after PCI. Of note, mortality was not a primary endpoint. The message is that long dual antiplatelet use is an exchange between avoidance of myocardial events and serious bleeding. The novel oral anticoagulants may enter the arena soon..

Patients with aneurysms 7 cm or greater demonstrated a higher probability of survival when treated immediately, compared to delayed repair, for patients under 80 years of age. An interesting attempt to construct a decision tool for aortic aneurysms.
September 3, 2020
This original article retrospectively analyzes the outcome of 359 patients after TEVAR at seven centers. All patients were stratified regarding the modified arch landing nomenclatur (MALAN). The rate of proximal endograft failure was significantly lower in patients with favorable landing area (MALAN 2/III and 3/III).
