ASAIO 2025 | Development and Chronic Animal Implantation of the VenstraMedical Transcatheter pVAD System

At the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ASAIO) 2025 Annual Conference, Dr. Martin Cook, chief executive officer and cofounder of VenstraMedical, presented on “Development and Chronic Animal Implantation of the VenstraMedical Transcatheter pVAD System.” 

Dr. Cook provided a comprehensive overview of the study’s background, emphasizing the unmet needs of percutaneous ventricular assist devices (pVAD), including cardiac support levels, catheter profile sizes, and hemocapability. He outlined the objective and potential clinical benefits of the VenstraMedical System and showcased a procedural animation. He discussed the durability test conducted, highlighting key aspects and results, as well as the chronic ovine model, including its objective and methods. Additionally, Dr. Cook discussed the lessons learned from the chronic ovine model and outlined the next steps for this system.
