Complex Reoperative Mitral Valve Replacement
Monday, September 29, 2014
This video contains a brief presentation on a patient with a previous failed mitral repair, and then a narrated operative video demonstrating the steps of the mitral valve replacement. The challenges of this case included: a much thickened subvalvar apparatus, a dehiscing annuloplasty band, and severe mitral annular calcification (MAC) posteriorly. The mitral valve replacement was performed with a partial retention of the subvalvar apparatus and a partially infra-annular placement of the posterior suture line, so as to avoid the MAC.
