Graft Sizing in Valve-Sparing Surgery

Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Correct graft sizing requires an intrinsic understanding of normal aortic valve anatomy and the role of the  functional aortic annulus. Yet sizing methods have generated significant controversy amongst surgeons. Mohamad Bashir of Barts Heart Centre, London, United Kingdom, moderates a panel discussion on this complex topic that was filmed at the 2016 Aortic Valve Repair Summit. The panel includes: Joseph Bavaria of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Munir Boodhwani of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Ottawa, Canada; Michael Borger of Columbia University Medical Center, New York, New York, USA; Tirone David of Toronto General Hospital, Toronto, Canada; Laurent De Kerchove of St. Luc Hospital, Brussels, Belgium; Gebrine El Khoury of St. Luc Hospital, Brussels, Belgium;  Emmanuel Lansac of Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Paris, France; and D. Craig Miller of Stanford University Medical School, Stanford, California, USA.
