A Heartbeat in Rwanda: Rachel's Story

Friday, September 13, 2019

Dr Ralph "Chip" Bolman is a cardiothoracic surgeon who has spent years traveling to Rwanda with Team Heart to help treat patients with rheumatic heart disease. A Heartbeat in Rwanda highlights one of many patients who received surgical treatment from Dr Bolman's team. The Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF) provides grants for surgeons to carry out charitable mission trips for patients in the developing world. Cardiothoracic surgeons and residents interested in applying for TSF surgical outreach funding can learn more at www.thoracicsurgeryfoundation.org/awards. The mission of TSF is to foster the development of surgeon scientists in cardiothoracic surgery by increasing knowledge and innovation to benefit patient care. TSF is the charitable arm of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. TSF would like to offer special thanks to the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation for funding life-saving surgeries in Rwanda.
