ISMICS 2025 | How AI Will Revolutionize Minimally Invasive Surgery

In May 2025, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery brought together professionals in the field of cardiothoracic surgery to discuss and share knowledge on minimally invasive techniques. Watch for more ISMICS 2025 videos in the coming weeks.  

At the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery Annual Scientific Meeting 2025, Dr. Jacques Marescaux, Founding President of IRCAD and Head of the Department of Digestive and Endocrine Surgery at the University Hospital of Strasbourg, delivered a presentation titled “How AI Will Revolutionize Minimally Invasive Surgery.”  

In his presentation, he discussed augmented surgery, artificial intelligence (AI) and automatic diagnosis, early cancer detection systems, automatic anatomical structure recognition, and interpretive image integration. Dr. Marescaux also explored augmented reality, hybrid operation rooms, and robotic flexible platforms.
