Laparoscopic Repair of Bochdalek Hernia

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

This video demonstrates a laparoscopic repair of symptomatic left-side Bochdalek hernia in a 20-year-old female. The patient presented with chronic intermittent constipation, nausea, and emesis. A CT scan revealed the hernial defect.

Nice work, Igor. I noted in the video that the left lobe of the liver seemed to offer some challenges to your visualization. In similar cases, I have used a Nathanson retractor to retract the left lobe cephalad and to the right, which can give you more room to work in the left upper quadrant. Great case! Glad to hear she did well--congratulations and thanks for sharing!
