Conventional extracorporeal circulation (CECC), miniaturized extracorporeal circulation (MECC) and off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) for coronary bypass grafting were compared in a meta-analysis which included 22 778 patients. Better perioperative outcomes were observed for MECC and OPCAP compared to CECC. MECC could be considered a compromise between OPCAB and CECC.

Congratulations Very nice work, there is always an economical issue that is the key for more of the countries ,the total cost of the operation. This will reflect in more or less access to the people that need a coronary operation OPCABG if the team know how to do it is more accesible in terms of costs and excelent results In my Foundation like probably others centers worldwide we do off pump for less than 5000 dollars, is impossible achieve this number if you need to use any type of pump were in the cases we need to use the increment of the cost is more than 30 % Probably the compromise of the societes is to teach more OPCABG there are many teams that for sure can help on that This study shows that MECC can be an option for the centers that can afford the costs of this thecnology an can improve in this place the relation Costs /benefit for coronary surgery
