Atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. While oral anticoagulation is the current standard of care, there is a growing body of evidence supporting left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) as an alternative or complementary treatment approach to reduce the risk of stroke or systemic embolism in patients with AF.

This paper reports the interim findings from the clinical registry that was initiated after FDA approval to validate the findings of the 386 PROACT trial for the On-X aortic valve.
