A forty-two-year-old patient on hemodialysis required a redo Commando operation for recurrent infectious endocarditis. This video shows the steps the surgeon took to complete the operation.

A brief but comprehensive editorial on nuances of the links between atrial fibrillation and heart failure, apropos a trial we have commented recently on, by the Johns Hopkins team that develops the calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II inhibitor molecules

Performing minimally invasive mitral valve surgery safely and efficiently involves a substantial learning curve. This interactive 360-degree video tutorial, filmed from the surgeon’s point of view, demonstrates a step-by-step approach and allows you to choose the viewpoint.

Mitral valve repair after a failed percutaneous repair can be complex, but a minimally invasive approach may still be feasible. In this case, the robotic approach facilitated clip removal without damaging the leaflets, as well as techniques to repair a complex rheumatic valve.

This is a video description of posterior annuloplasty using autologous pericardium during a mitral valve replacement for infective endocarditis in a patient with severe mitral annular calcification.

As the execution of percutaneous edge-to-edge repair increases, so does the need for surgical treatment of failed procedures. Mitral valve surgery after failed percutaneous edge-to-edge repair can be complex and the feasibility of surgical mitral valve repair/replacement depends on the patient’s underlying systemic conditions and the time elapsing between the primary percutaneous and the secondary surgical procedures. In this setting, a minimally-invasive approach may enable complex valve surgery promoting both faster recovery and increased patient’s satisfaction.

In this video, we present a 19-years-old patient with a history of 21 mm mechanical mitral valve replacement and aortic valve commissurotomy at the age of three who underwent mitral valve re-replacement by using the top-hat technique, aortic valve replacement, and aortoplasty.

This is an original, narrated video demonstrating reconstruction of the aorto-mitral curtain with multiple bovine pericardial patches in a case of invasive aortic root endocarditis.

Impressive  decrease of death (by approximaltely 40% !) in 2 years from a small RCT in elective structural heart surgery for degeneration. The assumption is  a benefit  by improvement in right ventricular dynamics
