CTSNet Editor in Chief Joel Dunning spoke with Professor Leah Backhus, a thoracic surgeon at Stanford University in Stanford, California, USA, about her presentation on recruiting and retaining a diverse talent pool throughout the cardiothoracic surgery specialty. They discuss the lack of diversity across all measures among trainees and Prof. Backhus’ recommended practices to level the playing field.
