“I think cardiothoracic surgery has an outstanding future,” says Joseph Bavaria, Past President of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. In this interview with Joel Dunning filmed at the 2017 STS Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, Dr Bavaria reflects on his career and the initiatives advanced during his STS presidency, including collaboration with the wider cardiothoracic surgery community and advancing e-learning. Dr Bavaria is the Brooke Roberts-William Maul Measey Professor of Surgery and the Director of the Thoracic Aortic Surgery Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
