This introductory video describes the Gaudiani technique of cerebral perfusion at hypothermia, while the body is kept normothermic, for major aortic cases. Another video demonstrates repair of Type A dissection with normothermia.

During the STS 50th Anniversary Meeting in Orlando, FL, CTSNet hosted a very informative video roundtable discussion with some of the leading surgeon educators in the field of surgical atrial fibrillation treatment. The discussion focused on the benefits of the Maze procedure in terms of procedural outcomes, patient satisfaction, and the development of stronger referral networks.

The operating surgeons report an elderly female patient with a 7 cm ascending aorta aneurysm. The operating surgeons used a simple Dacron sleeve technique that avoided circulatory arrest and shortened the cross clamp and cardiopulmonary support time. Moreover, the single aortic suture line decreased the haemostasis problem.
