  Among 4680 TEVAR procedures of the European Registry of Endovascular Aortic Repair Complications, 26 patients suffered from either central airway (aorto-bronchial) or pulmonary parenchymal (aorto-pulmonary) fistulation. A radical surgical approach was superior to any other treatment strategy with regard to overall survival.

The authors conducted a retrospective review of two concurrent groups undergoing elective aortic transverse hemiarch reconstruction:  Group DHCA underwent deep hypothermic circulatory arrest with retrograde cerebral perfusion; group MHCA underwent moderate hypothermic (>25 degrees C) circulatory arrest with antegrade cerebral perfusion.

This patient presented with a large distal arch and proximal descending aortic aneurysm (7 cm). He underwent a Total Arch Replacement and Frozen Elephant Trunk Procedure using the Thoraflex Hybrid Graft (Vascutek Terumo).
