Bilateral Lung Transplant

Monday, November 5, 2018

Petrucci O, Simon-Lee R. Bilateral Lung Transplant. November 2018. doi:10.25373/ctsnet.7277372.

The patient was a 16-year-old girl with a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, with pancreatic insufficiency and diabetes. She was listed for lung transplant and she underwent a bilateral lung transplant.

Congratulations, great operation! I have the following questions. 1. Is median sternotomy always your go-to approach, especially in a septic lung disease with the potential for adhesions. Are you able to predict when to use a clamp-shell approach? 2. Do you irrigate the airways before the bronchial anastomosis
